MOVE Culver City has been the subject of Twitter, Facebook, and NextDoor for the last month, and for good reason. The lanes are confusing. They criss-cross strangely. Buses, bikes, and cars all intermingling. There are new signs, new lights, new arrangements — people have been nearly hit or have actually had accidents. Cars have been damaged by the ground-level barriers to keep the new bike/bus/car lanes separated. All the turns are different and sometimes don’t work. The lights are poorly timed, or maybe not timed at all. Take a look at the new weird labyrinth.
And now, as an insult to injury, the citizen-army-volunteer-painted streets that were supposed to create a friendly, artistic, local vibe to invite bicyclists into a safe space to ride have their butterflies melting into the storm drains.
