You can still see the crosswalk lines amidst the new “quick build” lines and lanes.
It’s not too surprising that people are walking in what is now marked as a bike lane. It is all a bit confusing. But it is also now a new safety issue. Those barriers coming up out the ground give pedestrians the idea not to enter the blue butterfly section. And cars are now using as a driving space what was once a crosswalk.
The not-so-distant past! No bike lane, no butterflies, and a crosswalk that clearly connected the islands.
Here’s another view — and take a look at how strange the signs are given that the cars have to turn left in front of the fire station. What a mess! And perhaps it’s time to all admit that the plastic junk coming out of the street does not enhance beauty. We can do better than this.
