We had to get this information directly from LA County Public Works. We are not sure why Culver City Public Works and Staff did not provide this. The small little parcel of land where the gate sits does indeed belong to Culver City. It entered the tax roll on 06/10/1987. At this time, it is unclear who sold the parcel to the City.
Going forward, since the direction from Council 3-2 is to open the gate, work must be done in conjunction with LA County Public Works to figure out how to create the infrastructure for bicycle and pedestrian access while maintaining access for automobiles and residents living right there.
Stay tuned for surveillance camera videos of activity in that area to judge for yourself if opening the gate will become an entrance/exit hotspot for criminals, since that has been one consistent concern shared by the residents directly affected by its potential opening.
